Originally cultivated in the Netherlands and dating back to the 1500s, this climbing pea is both ornamental and highly productive.Grow up to 2 meters tall with support, producing 5–6 cm pods filled with bluish-green peas. Use young pods as mangetout, shell mature peas for fresh eating, or dry them for soups and stews. Prefers full sun and humus-rich soil. Sow from March to May for summer harvests, or in autumn in mild climates.
